#monopfx: Best pedalboards of June 2021

mono pedalboard

It’s time to pause and take stock of the year so far – we’re officially at the halfway point of 2021.

This month, we’re changing it up a bit and are showing a little bit more love to the bass boards out there. Interested to see what pedals the lords of the low-end have in their effects loop? Check out some of the best pedalboard setups we’ve seen in June.

The Lite Heavyweights

Do you believe that less is more? Musicians that belong to this camp turn to boards like our Pedalboard Lite to keep things trim on their tone hunt. No extra baggage allowed here — every effect unit counts.

⁣Loaded with two versatile overdrives (the Keeley Tone Workstation and the Snouse BlackBox), this board has the potential to go from light blues to wailing rock tones with ease. The inclusion of a J Rockett Boing Reverb is a great touch to add a bit of color and depth too.

⁣All in all, a great portable board for quick gigs around the city.

Pedalboard Classics

For the players that want the essentials and a little more. Here are our favorite Small and Medium builds of the month.

It’s time for a bass board that looks ultra clean — with a distinct orange flavor.

James Southwell has a great Medium board that has all the core bass effects covered. Mozztronics’ pedals are a mainstay in this signal chain, with the BP-2 Bass Preamp, BF-1 Bass Fuzz, BOD-1 Bass Drive, and the CO-2 Optical Compressor taking center stage.

Other notable pedals on display include the Boss OC-5 Octave and BED-7 Bass Equalizer pedals from Boss and the Micro Q-Tron from ElectroHarmonix.

We love a good flatboard when it’s done right. This time, we’ve got a MONO Pedalboard Carbon for another bass rig all the way from Hong Kong.

Just the essentials adorn this board – and what a selection of pedals. An Origin Effects Cali76 Compressor, Fortin Mini ZUUL Noise Gate, and a Darkglass Microtubes B7K Analog Bass Preamp are great choices for covering a lot of sonic ground with the least amount of gear.

This board deserves extra points for impeccable cable management too.

Go big or go home

Big isn’t always better, but big is always big — and sometimes very epic. That’s what the Pedalboard Large is for.

Big pedalboards may not always guarantee big tones, but having a collection of boutique pedals like Jonathan Cariaga does help. Featuring a whole assortment of high-end stompboxes from the best FX makers in the game, this board comes equipped with a Greer Amp’s Lightspeed Organic Overdrive, a Vemuram Jan Ray Boost-Overdrive, Strymon Volante Magnetic Echo Machine, and the JHS Kilt Overdrive, Fuzz & Distortion amongst many other great pedals.
